Urban Age Homes is a modern home builder located in Edmonton Alberta. Their specialty is infills, skinny homes and modern homes located in central areas with Edmonton and a few locations in the surrounding areas of Edmonton. They have a unique brand that really does stand on its own within the builder community. This edgy brand attracts a specific type of demographic and audience. If you are traveling around the city these days you might have seen their tattoo wrapped white vehicles driving around. It looks like Ed Hardy went to town on them.
They came to us one day looking to reinvent themselves online. They also wanted to become the top modern builder in Edmonton and surrounding area. They were avid social media content producers, especially on Instagram that helped get the word out and build their small community of followers but they knew that they wanted to reach the people that they hadn’t met yet and knew the only way to do that effectively was through Google. We were the natural fit for them, we understood their business and knew what needed to be done for them to be successful on Google.
The stage was set, now it was just a matter of planning it all out and executing it perfectly, well maybe not perfectly but adaptively based on the environment and the market. We spent the initial part of getting a better understanding of what they envision the site to look like, they are designers. We also needed to spend the time teaching them the ways of digital marketing to ensure that they had the appropriate expectations going into this. With them being social gurus, I wanted to assure them that with our strategies and solutions, we would be taking on all the effort required to get them where they needed to be. Social Media management can be extremely overwhelming and time-consuming, constantly coming up with good content to push out to the public.
We started off analyzing their original site to see if we could use it as is since most of our clients don’t require a new facelift but just some configuration tweaks. Unfortunately, it was too hard to navigate and all the content was placed into images that Google couldn’t index (big problem, actually huge problem). The decision became very obvious, we needed to start from scratch and rebuild it with WordPress since there was about the same amount of work retrofitting the old site as it would be creating a new one. Building a new one has its pros, we could do it correctly right at the beginning which is what we did.
Our goal was simple, to first portray the vision of their company online and second to get it to the top of Google for everybody to see. Based on their budget, small demographic and competition, they opted in for our Bowler Package, 5 keywords. Right from the start, we focused on infills, modern home builds and skinnies throughout Edmonton and surrounding area. It took no time to start gaining on Google but between 5-6 months to get to consistently stay with the top 3 on the first page of Google. We never lost our footing and have stayed at the top since then. Needless to say, it was a big hit for all of us, they got the traffic they were looking for and we had a very happy customer.
Now that Urban Age is on top with all their targetted keywords, we have changed our strategies from climbing to the top to keep them at the top, fending off their competitors and building long-term authority and credibility to ensure that those tops spots are theirs for years to come.
